Internet connection

Post by Adeline Thomson » Fri Sep 08, 2017 9:00 am

In case that temporary there is no internet connection, what are the customer’s options to control the gas heater from home?
Is it possible to establish a direct connection with the program via the WiFi network or just to control it directly without using the programmer (after it has already been installed)?

Hello,
When the internet connection is temporary lost the device will still function by the previously set program. Control with local interface is not possible, but a manual on and off control is possible with a direct pressing of the button which switches between off/on manual working mode, as in this mode the device uses the last set temperature.

In condition that the last set temperature in manual mode is inappropriate:
- Is there a possibility the programmer to be “skipped” so we can use the direct heater control?
- Is it possible that the programmer can connect to the internet if we use the “wi-fi share” function from a mobile phone?
How can we be sure that the device cannot be controlled from another device connected to our wi-fi network? As we can see in the promo video you just need to choose a BBoil local network and the IP address will load through the browser so you can show the programmer which wi-fi network to use.

Hello,
The device is designed as an internet thermostat and respectively most of the functions are only available from the internet. There is a possibility for a short-term (5-6 hours) autonomous working mode, afterwards the scheduled work is guaranteed due to lagging behind or speeding up. The device uses NTP time which means that it requires an internet connection.

“In condition that the last set temperature in manual mode is inappropriate:

This depends on the model of the heater and the control method. You can always add an extra mechanical emergency key which bypasses the control signal from the device so it can be controlled manually from the panel.

“Is it possible that the programmer can connect to the internet if we use the “wi-fi share” function from a mobile phone?”
Yes, this probably is the easiest way that you can use. If the mobile hotspot is with the same parameters (ssid, password) like the one that the device is paired with, a new set up is not going to be required.

After a successful original set up, the device stops the configuration hot spot. It is not possible that it can be started again, unless the button is pressed for 3 seconds.
